Check bearings/rods

Measure the width of the bearing at the tang and at the middle with a dial caliper.the babbit will squish out first (softer material), but detonation will also "squish" the steel.

Aluminum rods....the big end actually gets smaller as the rod surface is stretched (like a hammer hitting a sheet of aluminum) they would be smaller in the length (above) and bigger in the width (less important). So you would remove the brass pin (locater) and then resize the rods......and not cut the caps at all. As the clearance got smaller the rods would "stick" to the crank and exit the motor.

Measure with rods torqued ( should be 2.500")  if you use .003 clearance and the rod is .002 smaller there is no room for oil !!
